Access point

An access point is a regulated business location where consumers can legally purchase cannabis products. Access points include recreational dispensaries, medical dispensaries, and sometimes onsite consumption lounges depending on local laws. Access points provide individuals with a safe, controlled source of lab-tested cannabis instead of having to buy untested products from unlicensed dealers. Legal access points have staff available to guide customers, especially new consumers who may not be familiar with the wide array of cannabis strains, extracts, edibles, topicals and more now available. Access points focus on providing education to promote safe, responsible cannabis use by adults. licensed access points also adhere to strict security protocols like checking ID, surveillance cameras, safes, and security guards to deter crime. For medical patients, legal access points offer privacy to discuss health conditions and get advice on cannabinoid ratios, consumption methods, dosing, and other concerns. Local laws regulate how close an access point can operate in proximity to schools, parks, churches, and other areas with children present. As more states legalize either medical or recreational cannabis, increasing the number of properly licensed access points will be crucial to transition consumers away from the unregulated illicit market.
