Adapters

Adapters are accessories used in bongs, dab rigs, and other water pipes to connect two joints or openings that otherwise would not fit together properly. For example, a domed nail made for an 18mm joint will not form an airtight seal in a 14mm joint without an adapter. Adapters allow you to use the same bowl, nail, or slide between pieces with differently sized or shaped joints. Most adapters are made from glass and fit snugly over the joint to create an airpath between the two openings. Quality glass adapters are designed to withstand high temperatures and provide a solid seal with no air leaks when connecting joints. To use an adapter, you first need to know the sizes of the two joints and whether they are male or female. Female joints are wider to receive the male-ended joint. With the proper adapter for your sizes, just slide it over the joint and attach the nail, bowl, or other accessory to the opposite end. Adapters are useful for mixing and matching parts between bongs, allowing you to customize your setup.
