Bongwater

Bongwater refers to the water left in a bong’s basin after use. This water helps filter and cool smoke before inhalation. Smoke enters the bongwater, which collects tar, ash and other particulate matter, gradually turning bongwater a dirty brownish color after repeated use and cashing bowls. Stale, resin-tainted bongwater impairs filtration and imparts unpleasant tastes. Regularly emptying bongwater and replacing it with fresh, clean water helps preserve the intended cooling and smoothing effects that make hitting bongs more pleasant for the lungs and throat compared to dry pipes. Changing bongwater falls into the hygienic maintenance required for optimal bong enjoyment. Sticky, stinky bongwater should be splashed out after sessions. Fresh water keeps percolation pristine. Otherwise unpleasant particulate resuspends with each new hit.
