Cashed refers to a cannabis pipe or bong that has been fully smoked to completion, leaving nothing but ash and sticky residue coating the bowl or chamber walls. Being cashed signals the piece can no longer be hit and needs cleaning or repacking before further use. The ash and gunk left after thoroughly torching a bowl is essentially its cashed remains, the leftovers from its final inhalation. Frequent resin buildup gradually obstructs airflow, so cleaning out spent bowls maintains open passageways for smooth hits. Also, cashed bowls still emit stale odors, so covering bongs between sessions contains smells. Knowing when to call a bowl cashed takes experience.
