Closed-loop system

Closed-loop systems use solvents like butane or propane to extract cannabis oils inside an enclosed space, unlike open blasting which exposes the process to air. Closed loops allow recycling solvents through material multiple times for efficient extraction of cannabinoids and terpenes. They are safer and produce higher quality concentrates than open systems.

Closed-loop systems enclose the entire solvent extraction process. Open blasting exposes solvents and gases to the environment and is extremely hazardous. All legal concentrate producers now use closed loops. Plant material goes inside, and solvent strips the oils. The solvent can be recaptured and run through the material repeatedly.

This allows fine-tuning extracts for specific cannabinoids and terpenes. Closed loops prevent contaminants entering and let solvents be reused. They provide a controlled way to work with volatile compounds. The higher level of precision results in purer, safer concentrates compared to open blasting.
