An ounce is a common standard unit of measurement frequently used to designate the weight and quantity of packaged cannabis flower. Licensed recreational dispensaries typically limit maximum purchases to one ounce per transaction. A single ounce of flower can be further broken down into smaller denominations like individual eighths, quarters, or half ounces.

Ounce pricing ranges dramatically based on factors like product quality tier, geographic region, market supply and other dynamics, but generally falls somewhere between $100 on the low end for shake and up to $300+ for exotic top shelf flower.

When estimating volume, an ounce may look slightly different across strains. Very dense, compact buds take up less space compared to airy, fluffy flower. An entire ounce of looser bud consumes more physical volume in a jar than an ounce of dense, resinous buds. But the weight remains the same.
