Scrog

SCROG, which stands for “screen of green,” is a training technique used by cannabis cultivators to expose more bud sites to light. A mesh screen is suspended over the plants during vegetative growth. As branches grow up through the openings, they can be trained back under the net, spreading a wider canopy.

This wider, even canopy allows more buds access to light when flowering begins. With more bud sites receiving direct light exposure, the overall yield increases. SCROG also helps shape plants for optimal light absorption and improved airflow circulation that deters molds and pests.

The SCROG method takes more time and effort than standard growing but pays off with increased yields. When combined with other training techniques like topping, fimming, and low-stress training, SCROG can help plants reach their full productive potential in a given space.
