Thai stick

Thai sticks refer to special early type of cannabis cigar handmade in the Thailand region since at least the 1960s by densely compressing highly potent cured marijuana buds around a bamboo skewer or stick using hemp thread. The exterior was then carefully wrapped with Thai sativa leaves to form a finished organic cigar-like product. Smuggled to Europe, the United States and other Western nations from Thailand starting the late 60's through the 1970's, the coveted Thai stick's unique artisanal construction and high quality Thai landrace strains used quickly made them an iconic cannabis status symbol during the hippie era and beyond. While only authentically sourced Thai genetics make those original versions truly iconic, dried buds from nearly any cannabis strain can technically be substituted to manually construct modern Thai stick interpretations. However, undertaking the traditional labor-intensive Thai technique properly demonstrates respect for Southeast Asia's longstanding and little known cannabis craftsmanship still thriving underground today.
