Ice water hash

Ice water hash, commonly referred to as bubble hash, is a potent, resinous hashish made using chilled water and ice to selectively extract and isolate trichomes from plant material. More specifically, the process relies on trichome resin glands becoming fragile and brittle enough to separate easily when agitated in ice cold water. Mesh screen bags then catch and filter out the broken trichome heads and stalks, separating them from denser residual plant material. The icy temperature makes the normally sticky trichomes become brittle and prone to snapping off when disturbed. Passing the plant material through a series of bags with different micron levels allows collecting different grades of the powdery, sandy resin glands. The end quality and purity depends on both the starting material’s trichome content and the extractor’s separation process. When done properly, ice water hash preserves the full spectrum of aromatic terpenes and flavors. Many cannabis connoisseurs praise the clean, ultra-smooth experience rivaling the effects of top shelf flower itself. While manufacturing processes vary, most high-end bubble hash varieties fall along a spectrum spanning pliable, clay-like consistencies that can be pressed into cakes to more crumbly, granular, dry sand textures depending on preparation.
